The design of this pan is crisp and clear, and it creates a lovely cake for the holidays and throughout winter. The finished results are quite impressive. The pan is heavy weight and the quality is evident. I purchased one for myself and was so pleased I bought a couple for friends who also love to bake. This is one of those pans that produces a cake that looks like great effort was involved, when little is required. And, the pan is of such high quality, if properly cared for, it will last a lifetime. I love the Nordic Ware bundt pans and the quality of this Wilton pan is definitely comparable.It is worth the time to use either Wilton's cake release product to prepare the pan or Baker's Joy (a baking spray that incorporates flour into the spray.) I find greasing intricate cake pans very tedious, so I prefer a spray but the cake release product can be applied easily with a pastry brush -- but do complete this step because although the pan has a self-stick coating, it still needs to be greased and floured. And, like other self-stick coated pans, do not use metal utensils on the coating or it will scratch.A denser batter, like pound cake batter, works well in the pan. There are many recipes on the internet for bundt cake recipes that would work beautifully in this pan. You want to avoid bubbles when pouring the batter into the pan, so pour slowly into the pan to avoid creating any new bubbles and then give the pan a tap or two on the counter to bring any bubbles to the surface before putting the pan in the oven.A light cake shows the detail better than dark, but a sprinkle with powdered sugar after the cake has cooled, makes the detail pop on both light and dark cakes. Let the cake rest 10 minutes after removing it from the oven before inverting it and it should unmold perfectly.
